Welcome to Crafted Kitchen

As I stand in my kitchen, surrounded by the tools and ingredients that bring me joy, I'm reminded of the countless hours I spent helping my mom cook and learn about food. Growing up, my mom, a dietitian, instilled in me a passion for healthy and delicious cooking. She taught me about the importance of whole foods, cooking techniques, and the impact of ingredients on our bodies. From educating me about trans-fats and organic food to high fructose corn syrup, GMOs, and seed oils, she was always ahead of the curve when it came to the latest research and trends in nutrition.

Her enthusiasm for exploring the latest research and trends in nutrition sparked my curiosity, and I've carried that curiosity into my own kitchen. I remember her being a key player in the bill that made Connecticut the first state in the country to require labeling of GMO foods – it was a groundbreaking moment in the conversation about food transparency and consumer choice.

For me, cooking is more than just following a recipe – it's about creating nourishing meals that fuel my body and bring people together. I believe in moderation, not deprivation, and I love experimenting with new ingredients and techniques to create dishes that are both healthy and delicious. I'm not a fan of strict diets or cooking methods that prioritize one aspect over another. Instead, I enjoy finding that balance between flavor, nutrition, and creativity in the kitchen.

In Crafted Kitchen, I'll be sharing my experiences, recipes, and favorite kitchen essentials with you. From cooking tips and techniques to product reviews and recommendations, I'll cover it all. I'll be discussing my favorite cookware, like stainless steel and cast iron, and why I avoid certain materials like non-stick pans and black plastic cooking tools. My goal is to create a space where we can explore the world of cooking together, with a focus on healthy, whole foods and a mindful approach to the art of eating well.

One of my favorite food memories is from my 12th birthday, when my grandmother surprised me with a scavenger hunt that led me to a gift of Alaskan King Crab Legs. The excitement and anticipation of that moment have stayed with me, and I've carried that love for cooking and good food into my adult life. Who would have thought that a surprise gift of crab legs would lead to a sliced finger and a lifetime of love for cooking? It was a memorable birthday, to say the least!

As a passionate home cook, I'm inspired by chefs like Jacques Pepin, Brad Leone, and Julia Child, who share my love for good cooking, good food, and a good life. I'm also particular about the kitchen brands and products I use, opting for high-quality, non-toxic options that align with my values.

In Crafted Kitchen, you can expect a mix of recipes, cooking tips, product reviews, and stories from my kitchen. I'll be sharing my favorite ingredients, cooking techniques, and kitchen essentials, as well as my thoughts on healthy eating and a mindful kitchen.
